New Features in the GD655-7 Deliver Better Ergonomics to Lessen Operator Fatigue and Boost Productivity If asked to describe the ease of use with typical motor graders, most operators would steer clear of calling it a low-effort task. However, today’s updated models provide a host of features designed to significantly reduce operator fatigue and increase productivity. “The GD655-7 provides an all new, ultra-ergonomic working environment, and the new spacious cab allows more room during long working days,” said Komatsu Senior Product Manager Bruce Boebel. “Operators will appreciate the low-effort operation and steering levers, new transmission controls as well as the articulation stop-at-center function that simplifies use.” New performance features include a transmission shift lever with finger-operated forward-neutral-reverse switch that reduces required hand movement. Komatsu Motor Grader Lunch & Learn Our Sioux City branch held a Lunch & Learn Event last week featuring the Komatsu GD655-6 Motor Grader. Despite all the rain, this event received a great turnout. County Engineers and Supervisors attended along with field operation personnel to speak with Komatsu Representatives and RMS personnel about the productivity benefits of the new GD655-6. GD655-6 Overview With the longest wheel base in its class, the new GD655-6 offers exceptional fine grading performance.  Even with a long wheelbase, the GD655-6 maintains a tight minimum turning radius, thanks to a maximum articulation angle of 25 degrees. This grader is extremely maneuverable and productive in tight road work or cul-de-sac applications. Thanks to the new, Komatsu designed, Tier 4 Final power plant, GD655-6 owners should see a drop in fuel consumption of up to 5% when operating in “power” mode, and up to 15% in “economy” mode, compared to the GD655-5.
