Komatsu Introduces Autonomous Mining Truck

At MineExpo in late September, Komatsu unveiled the haul truck of the future, an Autonomous truck that has no cab.  It operates through wireless frequencies, designed to maximize the advantages of unmanned operation.  By distributing equal load to the four wheels, and adopting four-wheel drive steering, the new truck will deliver high-performance shuttling in both forward and reverse travel directions, thereby totally eliminating the need for turns at loading and unloading points.  While production is likely a few years away, the truck offered Komatsu the opportunity to showcase their technological leadership in the Mining industry.  As expected, the truck drew a tremendous amount of attention from all attendees, even those who were visiting the adjacent Caterpillar booth.  Show attendees were frequently seen taking pictures of it from atop a nearby Cat Wheel Loader!  For more information, visit bit.ly/KOAutonomousTruck or  bit.ly/AutonomousNavigation
