RMS Expands Operations in Greater Des Moines

Today the company announced the opening of its newly constructed state-of-the-art sales & service facility at 3001 Oxbow Court in Bondurant. The 25,000 square-foot building includes 10 drive through service bays large enough to accommodate large aggregate, mining, and construction equipment, an extensive parts warehouse, and administrative offices. The company has vacated its former facility on Sheridan Street in Des Moines, and all twenty-nine (29) Des Moines area-based employees will work from the new Bondurant location. 

Company officials believe the Greater Des Moines area will continue to see significant long-term growth and this new facility will enable them to better support that development. “We are excited to better service our customers in Des Moines and the surrounding areas,” said RMS CEO Mike Sill II. Company President Russell Sheaffer added, “We are making a significant investment in Iowa. In addition to this new store, we are building a nearly identical facility in Cedar Rapids which will open in the coming weeks. Never before have we been so committed to improving our customer support capabilities in the state.” Joe Schmidtlein, Vice President Iowa Operations is particularly excited about what this facility means for the company’s aggregate and mining business. “The aggregate and mining industry is a huge part of RMS’ business, and we put a lot of thought into building a facility that will allow us to service this segment of our business safely and efficiently. It may appear we overbuilt, but the equipment seldom gets smaller and we wanted to make sure we built for the future.” Schmidtlein commented.

RMS Delivers PC7000 Komatsu Excavator

RMS recently delivered a Komatsu PC7000-6 hydraulic excavator to one of our taconite mining customers in Northern Minnesota. The machine weighs 1,530,300 Ibs, features a 46-cubic yard bucket and is powered by Cummins 1,675 HP twin engines. The machine was delivered in 34 semi-truck loads (3 of these being super loads). Ben Schmidtlein promoted to Vice President of Aggregate

    Ben Schmidtlein has been named Vice President of Aggregate for Road Machinery & Supplies Co. Schmidtlein joined the company in early 2020 and has been instrumental in guiding nearly four years of steady, substantial growth in aggregate sales and support for Road Machinery & Supplies Co.   Under Ben’s direction, RMS has built a dedicated Aggregate Division with a focused sales and support team. In 2022, RMS purchased Pit & Quarry Supplies Co., which provides competitive aftermarket parts options for customers and added a dedicated warehouse in Savage for aggregate products.
