RMS Building New Facility in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Road Machinery & Supplies Co. (RMS) announced today that the company has begun construction of the new state-of-the-art parts, sales, service and rental operations facility that will serve the greater Cedar Rapids area. This 22,500-square foot project is expected to be completed in the summer of 2020. All current employees will transfer to the new location at that time. Conveniently located just off the I-380 corridor, the new facility will be accessible by either Wright Brothers Blvd to the north, or 120th Street to the south. The building will feature 10 service bays, including an over-sized drive through bay that will accommodate large aggregate equipment. RMS Vice President Southern Operations, Joe Schmidtlein will oversee the project. 

Company executives believe that Cedar Rapids and the surrounding area is poised for significant growth in the coming years. Mike Sill II, Chief Executive Officer pointed out, “We are excited about this expansion which will allow us to better serve our customers in Cedar Rapids and throughout Southeast Iowa.” Company President Russell Sheaffer added, “This new building will provide the infrastructure necessary to support our growth objectives while offering new and exciting opportunities for both existing and future RMS employees.”  

RMS was founded in 1926. It expanded into Iowa in 1997 by acquiring the Herman M. Brown Company, which celebrated its 100th year of business in 2019.
